Ladies Night!

I love spending time with my gals and last weekend brought a lot of fun with some of my favorites!  On Saturday night I met up with my friend, Thi, at a party in Echo Park and on Monday, I brought my friend Katy to the Kings Game where we sat in the Luxury Box Suites thanks to Marty!

Thi and I don't get together very often because she travels for work and has been spending a lot of time in New York working on Project Runway the past couple seasons.  So I was happy when I got a random Saturday night off and she was heading out to a party with friends and I was able to meet up with them.  It was a chill party in a big studio space with all sorts of props from sets and stuff and then an open area where some people were dancing.  You know you're getting old when you go to a party with unlimited booze and you have one drink and decide on drinking some more OJ and then a water before leaving because that one and only drink felt a little strong.  All the ladies caught up and before we knew it the sound of music was drawing us into the open area where we created our own little dance circle and got our groove on for the rest of the night with each of us playing DJ.  I'm so glad I got the night off to spend some time with my Lover :)

On Monday night, Katy and I headed over to the Staples Center to hit up a Kings Game where we sat in the Luxury Box.  My friend Marty usually takes clients to the games but had this game available for friends so he gave me 2 tickets and I'm so glad he did because seeing the game was so much fun!  I'm not a huge hockey fan but being at any live sporting event is such a cool experience.  We had a great view of the rink from our seats plus 2 flat screen TV's (one of which I tuned to the Giants game because I had to keep an eye on my Fantasy Football score) and unlimited nachos and chicken tenders.  There was also a fridge stocked with soda, beer and wine.  Once we got some food and drinks we settled into our leather recliner seats and enjoyed the game in style.  I loved when the little mini-Hockey players got to go on the rink and got to try to score a goal against the goalie during a break in the game.  They were so little and cute.  It was great to spend some time with Katy before she leaves for Sacramento at the end of the month!

These girls are incredible and I'm so happy I got to hang out with each of them and catch up after such a long time!  My work schedule has been so crazy but I'm lucky that it worked out on both days to have the night off for some fun and craziness with my ladies!

Just Do It.

Last week I had an Audition for a well known Sporting/Athletic Company whose tagline 'Just Do It' is recognized world-wide.  I saw the Casting the previous week for all sorts of athletes and when a Runner role came around I thought I might as well submit and maybe I'll be called in.

Sure enough, on Sunday I got the Casting notice for my Audition on Tuesday at the Cheviot Hills Recreational Center!  I was excited but knew it only gave me 2 days to stick to a healthy diet and get a couple good work-outs in.  That Tuesday morning I went out on my normal run, going a steady 4 miles, and doing a nice 30 minute stair session and by the time I was done, I was exhausted and glad to have an hour to myself before the Audition.

When I got to the Rec Center there were about 10 other people waiting in line to Audition, so I signed in, and got into line as about 10 more people followed suit after me.  The Audition consisted of explaining our Running/Track History, as they were looking for people with real-life experience, whether it was 5k's, marathon's, track and field, or just an avid runner.  I used to run Track in High School, did the Alzheimer's Walk (where I actually ran the entire time) and consistently run to keep in shape.  As I was telling the Camera Operator about my experience I included a story about when I'm doing my stair work-out, where people ask me what I'm training for since it's a pretty intense work-out, and I normally just joke around and say, "I'm training for life," but at this time, I could say "I was training for this moment, right here."  The Camera Operator liked my answer and then told me run across the basketball court at a good pace and then come back like I just finished a race.  I had watched the people running and was hoping I wasn't going  to look awkward or like Phoebe running on 'Friends' and felt good about my ability and my adrenaline was running so I had good energy going for me.

The audition was short, sweet, and to the point.  This was a big campaign so I was really hoping this one would be the one I got but then this week I saw a couple more postings about the roles they were looking for, saying the people who came in for the tennis roles, weren't able to return the serves, so people should submit appropriately.  And then I saw it.  I saw the Runner role come up again, and this time it said they were specifically looking for Marathon style runners, who were extremely skinny and all muscle including a picture of someone who liked like they were running at the Olympics.

That wasn't me; and at that moment, I knew I didn't book it.  Was I disappointed?  Of course.  But that's not my body, and that's not what I want to look like.  I like being healthy and toned, having some curves, and eating everything I like in moderation.  This role just wasn't for me but there's the perfect one out there, and it's just around the corner!

My LOVE for Cupcakes!

For those of you who don't know, Cupcakes, are one of my favorite things in the entire world!  They are a great Birthday present, and also, the perfect gift for anytime.  They are thoughtful, sweet, fun, and cute; not to mention, they are the perfect size to eat at any occasion.

Meggan's Superbowl Party was coming up on Sunday, so it was Dessert Time for me.  I usually make cupcakes and decorate depending on the occasion.  Luckily, my errands on Friday led me to Valentine's Day cupcake batter, so it was a Vanilla Cake with red accents.  So there I sat, on Saturday afternoon making my cupcakes.  I had also picked up some white Vanilla Frosting, which I dyed a beautiful shade of blue.  Trust me, it's difficult to get the right shade of Patriot Blue, as I didn't want it to be too bright, so I even added a drop of green and yellow dye, and luckily got a very bright shade of blue.  I knew I could have experimented to get a deep blue, but I had to be overly-cautious, because I didn't have enough time to practice with color.  I ended up with perfectly baked cupcakes and in my opinion, perfect frosting.  I did frost them on my own, because my helper was more interested in eating the frosting and my anal retentiveness, along with my wanting no lines in my frosting, forced me to eventually do the job on my own.

Meggan had out-done herself with two infused vodka drinks.  The first being a Basil, Jalapeno, and Bacon infused Vodka, and the second being Mango, Watermelon, and Pineapple.  I had to try both, so I started off with a Bloody Mary, perfect for the start of the Football Game, and also perfect for checking out Aaron Rodgers Pre-Game :)  It was super spicy, but kicked off the game!   I switched over to the Fruity Vodka after the first drink and was able to enjoy Shrimp Dip, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, along with a Sausage and Corn Dip which was incredible.  Needless to say, we were all well-fed!

Superbowl 2012 Crew!
Although, the game didn't end the way I wanted it to, (with a Patriots Victory,) I was so glad to be spending time with some great friends.  My only quip...it's a Superbowl Party, if you're not interested in the game, and the invite says, 'Superbowl Party,' be fair to the people who are there to watch the game, and allow them to enjoy it.  As Actors, we all love to see our friends in commercials, and hope we can be there in them someday as well, but as Sports Fans, it's the Superbowl, a once a year event, and darn it, I want to see the game!

So...Go Pack Go!  I expect to see a Packer Victory next Year!
